Kalim is not central Patong
Orchid Hotel and Spa Kalim Bay is in Kalim, north of the main Patong beach area. Booking.com lists sea views and an outdoor pool. The setting may appeal if looking toward the water matters more than being immediately beside Bangla Road, but a coastal address should not be mistaken for a guarantee of easy swimming directly outside.
It is also important to distinguish the view from the route into town. Guests discussing the hotel on Tripadvisor describe the walk toward Patong rather than a doorstep nightlife location. Avoid booking this address on the assumption that the central beach strip and Kalim are interchangeable.

The room evidence is more important than the pool photo
A Tripadvisor room account mentions road noise, curtains that did not close fully and morning disturbance from a kitchen exhaust. It concerns one room and an undated stay; it is a reason to ask about room position, not a claim that all rooms have exactly those defects.
More troubling guest accounts reproduced on Planet of Hotels describe mould, broken fittings, locks and cleanliness problems. Some long accounts on different websites appear to be the same stay and must not be counted as separate corroboration. Even treated as a single detailed report, the maintenance concerns are material enough that an attractive sea view should not settle the booking decision.
A booking to approach carefully
The useful distinction here is between a low price with a sea outlook and a dependable coastal resort experience. The evidence supports the former description more comfortably than the latter. Before choosing a non-refundable rate, request recent photographs of the actual room category and check fresh guest feedback about bathrooms, housekeeping and door security. Travellers who need consistent upkeep may prefer an option with stronger recent room-condition evidence.
