Patong Lodge Hotel — Editorial review

A hillside setting near Kalim, varied family rooms and two pool areas make Patong Lodge more suited to a resort stay than a nightlife-first base.

The north end changes the holiday

Patong Lodge stands on a green hillside facing Kalim Beach, at the northern end of Patong. That puts the sea and the quieter edge of the bay ahead of immediate access to the busiest shopping streets. It is worth understanding that distinction before comparing it with a hotel beside Bangla Road. A location can be convenient for the beach and still feel inconvenient for repeated trips into central Patong.

The hotel presents itself as a quieter resort. Guest experiences support that appeal in places, but not uniformly: a June 2026 Deluxe Premium guest liked the value and breakfast while finding the commercial centre inconvenient to reach. For a holiday built around pool time and nearby food, that compromise may be perfectly reasonable. For several late nights in the centre, transport becomes part of the accommodation decision.

Choose the room category, not just the hotel

The official room list runs from 29-square-metre Cozy rooms to 32-square-metre Premium rooms and larger family configurations. Family Triple rooms combine a queen bed with a single, while the Family Triple Plus category specifies a main-pool view. Two-bedroom suites are separately offered with garden or pool views. These are meaningful differences for a family sharing space rather than decorative labels.

A hillside layout also deserves a practical question about the route from reception to the exact room. Ask about steps, slopes and the distance to breakfast if anyone in the group has limited mobility. A room category alone does not establish an accessible route, and a pool-view photograph says little about how much climbing is involved.

Larger layouts are genuinely different

The Grand Deluxe Quadruple category is listed by the hotel at 38 square metres, with a king bed and two single beds. That is a more concrete family arrangement than an ordinary double with a vague promise of an extra bed. The hotel describes it for up to four people, including a two-adult, two-child arrangement. It gives siblings separate beds while keeping everyone in one room, which can be useful when younger children are not ready for a separate bedroom.

The Junior Suite is another kind of upgrade. Its official description gives 50 square metres and identifies a bedroom plus a living room under a Grand Deluxe Pool Access description. The separate living area makes this worth comparing with the quadruple rather than assuming that every larger room solves the same problem. Confirm the exact booking label with the hotel, since the suite and pool-access names are used together on its room page.

Meals and arrival arrangements

The Boat Bar and Restaurant looks over the tropical garden and lists Thai and international dishes. The main-wing pool has Coco Bar nearby, while a second pool is identified separately in the Deluxe area. This gives the resort different places to spend time outside the room rather than one single indoor lounge.

There is an arrival cost to distinguish from the room payment: the official site lists a refundable incidentals deposit of THB 1,500 or USD 50, subject to a damage inspection at departure. Confirm the accepted method before arrival. It is a deposit rather than an extra nightly fee, but it still affects the money you need available when checking in.

Breakfast and pools get praise, room reports vary

Trip.com reviews from 2026 contain repeated praise for the staff, breakfast and swimming pools. A family staying in a Cozy room described easy beach access and a pool their children enjoyed. Another guest in a two-bedroom garden-view suite liked the friendly staff but reported a bathroom odour. A July Family Triple guest described serious cleanliness and hot-water problems; other guests reported clean, comfortable rooms.

Those accounts should not be flattened into either an assurance that every room is spotless or a claim that the whole property has the same fault. They make room condition and allocation worth checking. The official website lists separate main-wing and deluxe pools, a gym and restaurants. If the price suits your plans, a clearly specified room and a confirmed route through the hillside property matter more than treating every category as interchangeable.
