Choose the room, not just the building
Sunset Mansion is listed at 28–30 Rat-U-Thit Road in Patong. Booking.com separates a Standard Double Room from a One-Bedroom Apartment with Balcony. That distinction matters if you are choosing the property for a longer stay: the kitchen and separate-bedroom experience mentioned by guests should not be assumed to come with the cheapest standard room.
Booking.com guest Daniella liked the size of the apartment rooms and the staff. Chalmers highlighted a kitchen, generous space and nearby practical shops such as a convenience store, laundry and pharmacy. Those details make the apartments more interesting for a stay built around ordinary daily routines than for someone mainly looking for resort facilities.

Stairs and maintenance deserve attention
A guest account on ZenHotels describes a clean, functional top-floor room but limited hot water and no lift. Another calls the accommodation spacious but basic, again noting the walk-up access. The dates are not exposed in those excerpts, so they are useful questions to put to the property rather than a verified statement about every current room.
More recent dated accounts reproduced by Planet of Hotels are less reassuring: January 2026 reviewers criticised cleanliness, age and value, and a 2025 guest mentioned bathroom odours. These are individual experiences, not a guarantee of problems, but they are recent enough that older praise should not cancel them out.
Where it makes sense
The appeal is a practical Patong base with the possibility of apartment space. The caution is inconsistent condition and the prospect of carrying luggage upstairs. If you need step-free access or are booking a long stay, obtain a clear answer about the floor, lift access and the exact apartment before paying. A spacious floor plan only helps if its condition and access suit the person staying in it.
