Silver Resortel — Editorial review

Silver Resortel is close to Patong Beach on Sawatdirak Road, but its room categories differ substantially. Some have balconies and others have no window at all, making the exact room more important than the lowest headline rate.

The room name is unusually important here

Silver Resortel is at 3/37 Sawatdirak Road, close to the northern-central stretch of Patong Beach. Its official website describes Asian and Lanna-style interiors and access to the beach, Bangla Road and Jungceylon. This is a town hotel for using Patong on foot, not a secluded resort whose grounds are the main attraction.

The most useful detail in the accommodation list is also the easiest to miss: the hotel explicitly sells windowless rooms. Mini Standard No Window and Economy No Window appear alongside Economy With Window, Standard, Superior and Deluxe. Those names describe a meaningful difference in the stay. A cheaper category can remove daylight and an outside outlook rather than merely changing the colour of the furnishings.

Windowless, window or balcony

The official Mini Standard description specifies a queen bed, shower, safe, television, minibar and Wi-Fi, with a maximum occupancy of two adults. It does not promise a window. For a short stay spent mostly outside, that might be an acceptable trade for the location; for someone who likes daylight or spends time working in the bedroom, it could be the deciding drawback.

A Trip.com guest deliberately chose a cheaper windowless room and reported no dampness or smell. A Tripadvisor visitor, by contrast, was unhappy to discover the lack of a window. These do not cancel each other out. They illustrate why matching the room to personal expectations matters more than declaring windowless accommodation universally good or bad.

Economy With Window is separately described by the hotel as an 18-square-metre queen-bed room. The distinction offers a middle choice for someone who wants daylight without necessarily paying for a balcony. It is worth comparing the total price of that category with the windowless option rather than comparing only the first rate displayed on a booking page.

Superior and Deluxe are different again

The Superior room page advertises a balcony and shower. Deluxe adds a balcony and bathtub, with tea and coffee facilities also listed. A bath is therefore a category-specific feature, not something to expect from the least expensive room. The official room pages also state that a requested twin or double configuration is subject to availability at check-in.

That limitation matters for friends sharing a room. Choosing a category with attractive photographs is not the same as having a guaranteed two-bed arrangement. If separate beds are essential, obtain confirmation for the rate you are buying rather than treating a general request box as a firm allocation. A Tripadvisor visitor described a good-sized air-conditioned room with a window but no balcony, reinforcing that the room mix should not be reduced to one representative photograph.

A beach-close base rather than a resort holiday

Booking.com guest comments praise the easy beach access, and the official facilities list includes breakfast, room service and room Wi-Fi. Those are useful everyday conveniences. The strongest argument for Silver Resortel is still its location combined with a clearly chosen room category, rather than a long list of leisure facilities.

For travellers who want to be out on the beach, in shops or eating around Patong, a practical bedroom can be enough. Someone hoping for natural light, balcony time and a bathtub should compare the relevant higher category from the beginning. The cheapest windowless room and a Deluxe balcony room may share reception, but they should not be judged as the same product. That is the central booking decision at this hotel.

Useful beach-day details

The official room pages list beach towels, a safe and a kettle among the practical amenities. Those small items are more relevant to a beach-close town stay than decorative claims about luxury. The separate facilities page also lists breakfast and room service. Check whether breakfast is included in the chosen rate, rather than assuming that the existence of a breakfast service makes it part of every booking.
