A garden setting rather than a beach-road frontage
Deevana Patong Resort & Spa is a different property from Deevana Plaza Phuket Patong. The names are easy to mix up, but the hotel reviewed here is the garden resort whose official accommodation list begins with Superior Garden rooms. Its position is inland from the beach, so the attraction is a pool-and-garden base within reach of town rather than a bedroom directly opposite the sand.
The hotel’s own location text gives varying walking estimates for the beach and Bangla Road. Booking.com also describes a walk rather than direct beachfront access. The consistent practical message is more useful than the shortest number: you can go into Patong on foot, but there is a journey between the resort and the coast. It is not the place to book on an assumption of immediate sea access.
The Garden and Deluxe categories should not be treated alike
The official room list puts Superior Garden accommodation at 27 square metres, Deluxe at 36 square metres and Deluxe with Jacuzzi at 44 square metres. Junior Suite categories are listed at 55 square metres. These are material changes in space, not just different labels attached to the same room.
The Garden room can make sense when the resort setting matters more than an expansive bedroom. Travellers expecting a large room with a private outdoor soaking feature need the category that explicitly includes it. A pool image or a photograph from a suite should not establish the expectations for a compact Garden booking. Compare like with like before deciding whether the price is attractive.
Guest experiences differ by wing and expectations
A Tripadvisor visitor describing eight nights in a Deluxe room enjoyed the included breakfast, while expressing reservations about Garden rooms and their surrounding grounds. That is an individual assessment, not proof that one wing is universally superior. It does show why a review that simply says Deevana can be too vague for a booking decision.
Agoda guest evidence includes praise for welcoming staff and a buffet breakfast. A traveller on Reddit who had stayed at the resort liked being able to walk into town while finding separation from the busiest evening activity. Those are useful positives, but none guarantees the same service or sound level for every room and season.

Pool and spa time are part of its appeal
The resort advertises Orientala Spa, dining and outdoor swimming facilities. These give the stay a purpose beyond a convenient sleeping address. It can work for someone who wants to alternate time out in Patong with a slower afternoon on the property. The garden layout is particularly relevant to that choice; it offers a different atmosphere from a building directly above a restaurant on a busy street.
Sources disagree on the number of pools available: older descriptions refer to two, while part of the current official page lists one. That inconsistency should not be silently resolved in favour of the larger number. If access to a particular pool matters, ask the hotel what is operating for your dates, especially when comparing photographs from different periods.
A useful middle ground, with room selection doing the work
Deevana looks most convincing for travellers who want a recognisable resort setting while still being able to use Patong’s restaurants, shops and nightlife. It is less direct for someone whose holiday revolves around repeated trips between the sea and a beachfront bedroom. The location is a balance rather than a claim to offer both complete seclusion and immediate beach access.
The best comparison is therefore between the precise Deevana room you can book and a similarly specified alternative. Include the room area, wing, breakfast and any Jacuzzi feature in that comparison. The resort name alone does not tell you how spacious the room will feel, what the outside area looks like or which facilities are operating.
Keep the property names separate
The distinction from Deevana Plaza matters for arrival, photographs and reviews, not just for spelling.
