The garden is the reason to look twice
Patong Palace is built around the kind of space that can be easy to overlook when comparing central Patong hotels: a tropical garden rather than a tower view. The hotel’s own description puts spacious guest rooms and flowering grounds at the centre of its offer. For travellers who want to leave busy streets behind at the end of the evening, that is a more useful distinction than a long list of standard amenities.
Guest accounts on Trip.com repeatedly describe the grounds as quiet and green. A September 2025 visitor in a Deluxe Pool Wing room particularly liked the park-like setting and clean pool; another guest that year enjoyed the setback position despite the taller buildings outside. These accounts suggest that the courtyard atmosphere is a real part of the stay, rather than just something visible in a photograph.
Simple rooms, with details worth checking
The published guest experiences span Standard, Superior, Family and Deluxe Pool Wing rooms, so comments about space should be matched to the booked category. A Family Room guest in 2024 reported a spacious room and daily cleaning. Other visitors found their accommodation straightforward rather than luxurious. That is consistent with choosing the hotel for its setting and value instead of expecting a newly styled resort.
A 2023 Superior-room visitor would have preferred a safe inside the room rather than using reception, and a 2024 visitor also mentioned the absence of a room safe. Those are dated observations, not a current policy guarantee. They are still useful prompts if you expect to secure a laptop or valuables without visiting the front desk.

Garden terrace or the Pool Wing?
The hotel’s Superior Twin Bed page describes a 30-square-metre ground-floor room with a private terrace facing the garden. Air conditioning and a fan are both listed. This is a fairly specific way to enjoy the grounds: outdoor space at room level, with planting rather than a high-rise city outlook. The page also mentions double or twin bedding, so the precise bed arrangement needs to be matched to the offer despite the name of the page.
Deluxe Pool Wing rooms are listed at 40 square metres with a queen bed and a view towards the pool. The difference is not simply the word Deluxe: there is more published floor area and a different part of the property. Someone planning several afternoons around the swimming pool may value that setting more than a guest who will mainly use the hotel as a base for outings.
The Residence offers a separate family layout
The Family Room–Suite is described separately in the Residence building. The official layout has a master bedroom with a queen bed, an adjacent space with a single bed and a kitchenette. Its listed area is 45 square metres, with occupancy for three people. That makes it a more distinctive choice for a small family or longer stay than simply adding a folding bed to a double room.
The kitchenette is specific to that suite description. It should not be carried over to the garden rooms or the Pool Wing just because they share the same reception. For travellers who want some daily independence while retaining the pool and garden setting, the Residence layout is worth considering on its own terms.
A calm base does not mean every detail is modern
Breakfast and service receive positive comments, but breakfast variety divides opinion: some 2025 guests found it repetitive. Another return visitor felt that repairs were needed. Air-conditioning noise appeared in both older and 2025 accounts, while a December 2024 guest found Wi-Fi weak enough to work at reception instead of in the room.
For a short leisure stay those issues may matter less than the garden, pool and access to local restaurants. For remote work or someone who needs a very quiet air conditioner all night, they deserve a specific check before paying. Patong Palace’s appeal is a relatively relaxed outdoor setting within Patong, with room expectations kept realistic. It is not necessary to turn it into a luxury hotel to see why guests return.
